Mentorship Program Gaining Traction

Mentoring program, which was launched a couple of years ago, has gained lot of traction in last six months. Gaurav Kumar (CS 2000) is administering the program and is matching students or alumni with a mentor from available pool of mentors. The mentors are providing guidance in next career move, application to graduate program, or just effective communication. The students and alumni interested in receiving guidance should send email to mentoring@mnnit.org. Learn more about mentorship program by clicking here.

Spring Get-Together
Northern California Chapter

Basant Bahaar 04 was the most successful event we had in the history of our association We had a record participation of 175 by alums (including families and kids). We saw a lot of old faces and a whole lot of new ones. Whole alumni community of bay area came together to make this event the most exciting one. Cultural program by Arindam Chakraborty, MC by Nidhi Mathur and Debu Roy, Games by Sandip Gupta and the registration team of Rahul Gaur and younger alums made it a great success. The evening was like a homecoming for most of the alums. Everybody enjoyed the cultural program, mouth watering food and drinks, and the music and dance that continued until midnight.

Network General to Acquire Alumni Founded Company, Fidelia
Network General announced on February 6, 2006 in a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Fidelia Technology, Inc. of Princeton, N.J. With this acquisition, Network General, the undisputed leader in packet flow based application and network performance management will expand its product portfolio to cover the entire realm of enterprise application performance management. Fidelia's flagship product, NetVigil, is a comprehensive business service monitoring application. It combines fault and performance monitoring capabilities, allowing IT managers to truly integrate their businesses with the IT infrastructure on which they depend.

Fidelia was founded in December 2000 by a MNNIT alumnus, Vikas Agrawal. He raised about $4 millions in venture funds for Fidelia. The company doubled its revenue and customer base for several consecutive years under the leadership of Vikas. The company had 70 customers at the time of this acquisition. Customers benefiting from NetVigil's business containers include: Sony Online Entertainment, Verizon Wireless, Spirit Airlines and Yale University.

Before starting Fidelia, Vikas was VP of Engineering at Verio Internet, where he was responsible for the consolidation of all Internet systems & services for the 40 ISP acquisitions prior to a successful acquisition of Verio by NTT Japan for $6B. Vikas was also the GM (Asia) for GES/JvNCnet (one of the first NSFnet ISPs during the ARPAnet transition), which was later acquired by Verio.
